Program highlights include supporting individuals with Down syndrome and other special needs, teaching English to both children and adults, participating in community cleanup and beautification efforts, assisting in basic medical and health outreach programs, and leading workshops focused on soft skills such as communication, leadership, and collaboration.

Whether your interests lie in education, healthcare, or social development, this program offers a meaningful opportunity to create positive change while building lasting connections with the resilient and welcoming people of Palestine.

Hebron—known as Al-Khalil in Arabic—is just 30 km (19 miles) south of Jerusalem. It is one of the oldest cities in the world and a central hub of Palestinian life.

The city is home to around 300,000 residents, with an additional 500,000 people living in the surrounding villages. As a volunteer, you’ll be immersed in the daily life of the community, working closely with local schools and families.

How long can I join the program?

As part of the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community program, you can join for anywhere from 1 to 12 weeks. Whether you stay for a short time or a full three months, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Our team ensures that your experience is meaningful, safe, and unforgettable. You’ll feel welcomed both at our center and in the amazing city of Hebron.

What Are the Advantages of the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community Program?

By joining the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community program, you’ll not only make a real impact but also immerse yourself in the rich culture and welcoming environment of Palestine.

Supporting Communities Through Grassroots Initiatives

Palestinian communities face significant challenges due to political instability, limited resources, and socio-economic struggles. Despite these hardships, local communities are strong, resilient, and committed to creating a better future for their children and families. Through the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community program, participants will directly support these efforts by engaging in community-centered initiatives that promote social, educational, and economic development.

Volunteers will be involved in a variety of activities, such as community clean-up initiatives, educational workshops, and health outreach programs. These efforts are designed to improve local environments, educate youth, and foster better public health practices, all while strengthening the bond between volunteers and Palestinian residents.

Supporting Individuals with Disabilities

A central component of the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community program is providing support to individuals with disabilities, particularly those with Down syndrome and other special needs. Many families in Palestine face significant challenges in accessing the resources and care necessary for individuals with disabilities. Volunteers in this program will work directly with local organizations that offer support to these individuals, helping to promote inclusion and equal opportunities.

Volunteers will assist in various ways, including providing individualized care, facilitating skill-building workshops, and supporting therapeutic programs designed for people with Down syndrome and other special needs. This work is essential in helping individuals lead more independent lives, improving their emotional and social well-being, and providing them with the tools they need to thrive.

Empowering Youth through Education and Skills Development

Education is at the heart of the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community program, with a strong focus on teaching English to both children and adults. Volunteers will assist in local schools and community centers, helping to enhance English language skills and provide additional educational support in subjects like mathematics and science. By improving access to quality education, volunteers contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty and providing Palestinian youth with greater opportunities for the future.

In addition to teaching, volunteers will also help organize soft skills workshops, focusing on communication, teamwork, leadership, and personal development. These workshops are designed to build the confidence and abilities of young people, empowering them to become active and engaged members of their communities.

Healthcare and Well-Being Initiatives

Access to healthcare remains a challenge in many parts of Palestine, especially in remote areas. Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist in local medical outreach programs, where they can support healthcare workers and community centers in providing basic medical care and promoting public health initiatives. Whether it’s helping with health education or assisting in basic medical screenings, volunteers play a vital role in improving the well-being of Palestinian communities.

Cultural Immersion and Community Integration

One of the most rewarding aspects of the Volunteer with the Palestinian Community program is the chance to immerse yourself in Palestinian culture. Volunteers will engage with local families, participate in traditional events, and experience the warmth and hospitality that Palestinian people are known for. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the country’s rich history, its resilient people, and the ongoing challenges they face, all while making a positive difference.

What visa do you need to volunteer in Palestine?

To volunteer in Palestine, you will need an Israeli tourist visa that allows a stay of up to 3 months. Acquiring a volunteer visa directly in Palestine can be difficult.

Visa Requirements for Palestine

If you’re from a country with a visa exemption agreement with Israel, you can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) or the Allenby-King Hussein Bridge crossing. Citizens of countries like the United States and European nations are typically granted a three-month visa valid for 90 days.

If your home country does not have an exemption agreement with Israel, you must apply for a visa from the Israeli embassy or consulate in your home country before visiting. Israel now issues visas on a separate card with a barcode, avoiding passport stamps as some Arab countries do not accept Israeli passport stamps. Ensure you confirm whether your country participates in a visa exemption agreement.

What if your passport isn’t suitable for a tourist visa?

Individuals from countries like Pakistan and India must obtain a visa from the Israeli embassy in their home country to volunteer in Palestine. This can be a challenging process, as Israel controls all entry points, making it a prerequisite to secure the visa before applying for the volunteer program.

Is the West Bank safe for volunteering?

Yes, the West Bank is generally safe for volunteering. Most incidents or conflicts tend to occur in areas far from the main city centers where most volunteer programs are held. Cities such as Hebron, Bethlehem, and Ramallah maintain a stable and secure environment for volunteers.

The local community is often welcoming and supportive, which enhances the overall sense of safety. We do recommend that participants stay updated on local news and follow any guidance from their hosts to ensure personal safety.
