Cheapest, safest and shortest way to come to Palestine : Normally, when you travel you think about the cheapest way to get to your destination in order to save your money for activities during your trip. As you might know, traveling to Palestine can be done in two ways, either through Israel where you fly to Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel-Aviv or through Jordan by flying to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and then crossing the border between Jordan and Palestine.
What is the Cheapest of these Two Options?
We would say that the first option is the cheapest one since the tickets to Israel are much cheaper than the ones to Jordan. Normally, the difference bewteen the two ranges between 30-40% in favor of flights to Tel Aviv. Sometimes the price difference is even greater.
You might ask why this is so. Our theory is that taxes on airline tickets are higher in Jordan than in Israel. In addition the Israeli goverment has agreements with international airports around the world, especially ones in Europe. Dont forget as well that passing through the Jordanian-Palestinian border will cost you additional transportation fees in order to travel from Amman to the border.
What is the Safest Way to Travel? Though Israel or Jordan?
We would say that the two options are perfectly and equally safe. Airlines flying to both of these destinations act in accordance with international standards and flights normally occur without any safety concerns. Some people might fear traveling to Jordan due to its proximity to Syria. In fact Jordan is a perfectly safe destination.
Tourism in Jordan is one of the most important sectors of the country’s economy, accounting for 13% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and revenues reach approximitly 4.3 billion dollars annually. In 2014 about 5.3 million tourists visited Jordan from around the world, the vast majority of whom came and went unharmed.
Which Route is the Shortest?
Coming to Palestine through Israel is shorter than traveling through Jordan. Traveling to Jordan adds flying hours from most destinations. In addition, you willl have to go from the airport to the border which takes at least 45 minutes.
What do we recommend?
That depends. If you want to visit Jordan for a few days before you come to Palestine, then we would recommend enjoying one of the most spectactular tourist destinations in the Middle East (after Palestine of course).
If you do not have time to go to Jordan or you want to visit the country later after spending some time in Palestine, then we recommend flying to Isreal and as it is the cheaper and quicker route.
