Many people all over the world give a helping hand to those in need by volunteering their help. Palestine is one of those places in the world where people volunteer and help Palestinian children and young people through education and culture exchange.

Where to find volunteer programs in Palestine?

You can volunteer in Palestine by joining the Palestinian Center (Go Palestine) in the city of Hebron, Palestine. The Palestinian center offers many volunteer programs that provide you with new experiences in teaching, educating, and making a difference in the Palestinian community.

The Palestinian Center for Education and Cultural Exchange – Go Palestine was established to meet the cultural, social, and educational needs of the Palestinian Community. The Center offers educational and community services to its Palestinian population through a diverse international staff. Through tutoring and educational programs, the center promotes unyielding support to Palestinian youth.

The center acts as a meeting point for all the internationals who come from every corner of the world in order to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture and to become acquainted with Palestinian daily life. Our international interns and volunteers teach Palestinian youth and more mature Palestinian community members about their own home cultures, thereby gaining valuable experience and knowledge for themselves. How do I get a visa to enter Palestine?

Visas are routinely granted upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) if you are a citizen of an exempted country, or at the Allenby-King Hussein Bridge border crossing; Hamas controls the border in Gaza with Egypt. Tourist visas are valid for 90 days; most Americans and Europeans are issued three-month visas upon arrival and clearing customs.

If your home country does not have an exemption agreement with Israel, you will have to procure a visa from the Israeli embassy/consulate at home before you visit. Because many Arab countries do not accept Israeli stamps upon passports, Israel now issues their visa on a separate small card with a bar code indicating the visa time validity. Please keep this visa card WITH your passport at all times. You may check to see whether or not your native country participates in a visa exemption agreement

Some of our Reviews!

I think that it is wonderful for the Palestinian Center to provide English classes for girls as it encourages future women of Palestinian society to invest in their education and to recognise their worth as equal contributors.

Volunteer with Palestinian Children

As a circus artist i had the chance to come around Hebron and the small villages around it and make shows and workshop for many children. I always had somebody from Palestinian center with me and felt useful and safe. I would not have the chance to do it on my own!

The Law Program truly opened my eyes to what life is like under the occupation and how Palestinian law operates underneath Israel’s control. I was able to meet with many different lawyers, go to court, attend classes in the College of Law at the University of Hebron, and meet with many different human rights organizations.

Some of the activities I engaged in included: teaching English, visiting the Hebron glass factory, the Hirabaw scarf factory and the Old Town garden area. In addition, I started learning the Palestinian dialect of Arabic and we handed out dates to the locals during the early days of Ramadan. I felt totally safe in Hebron, I walked just about everywhere and the weather was moderate and the food is amazing, especially the chicken shawarma and falafel. I had a really good experience and would love to visit again. GO PALESTINE!!! Thank you.

Volunteer in the West Bank

During my three weeks there, I mainly taught English in some villages and in Hebron. The children and teenagers were very welcoming and eager to learn. I enjoyed teaching basic English to children in Seera (Dura) and in Soureef. I also had great Arabic lessons with Nadine; she is very sweet, motivating, patient, and she explains the concepts clearly! I have learnt some basic Arabic and I hope to keep on studying this beautiful language. The Center’s environment is good: the staff is always available and helpful, the teachers are kind and talkative.

Teach English in Palestine

I volunteered as a football coach at the Fawwar Refugee camp just outside of Hebron. I coached two groups of boys from the ages of six to sixteen years of age from the local school. I never had any worries about personal safety and found that these concerns have no place in Palestinian society.

Weather in Palestine

  • Winter in Palestine spans about three months duration, and the temperature sometimes does fall to zero; however, it does not usually snow in Palestine. In recent years it has snowed only twice.

  • Summers in Palestine are hot. July and August are the hottest months in Palestine. The Temperatures may reach 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit), and even higher some days. Although the summer is hot, the evenings are cool. Evenings are popular for going out to enjoy the cooler weather after a hot day. A sweater or light jacket may be comfortable for evenings.

Traveling Solo to Palestine

Traveling to Palestine, whether with someone or alone, is an interesting and once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Safety is always a concern no matter where you travel, but with common sense and planning, your travel can be enjoyable, fun, and worry-free, as well as save you money.

People in Palestine are very friendly, enthusiastic, and eager to help and to talk to people from different cultures and countries. The opportunities to interact with internationals will make the day for a Palestinian, and, in turn, this will make your trip more enjoyable and interesting. If you are traveling alone, your solitariness will make you more approachable than if you are traveling as a group member.

Do not let your fears and apprehensions paralyze you and rob you of the adventure of a lifetime. Come to Palestine as a solitary traveler and experience its fascinations and beauties. It has been said that “the world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page”.  Allow yourself to read the whole book – a book you will never forget!
