Volunteering with Palestinian Children

If you’re passionate about working with children and want to make a positive impact, consider volunteering with Palestinian children through Go Palestine in the West Bank. This program offers a unique opportunity to support youth in need, while learning about Palestinian life, culture, and resilience. Whether you’re a student, educator, or traveler looking for meaningful work, this experience will stay with you forever.

Why Volunteer with Children in Palestine?

Palestinian children grow up in challenging environments. Many face trauma, poverty, and restrictions on education due to the ongoing occupation. Despite these hardships, they are full of energy, talent, and hope.

Volunteering with Palestinian Children

When you volunteer with children in Palestine, you become part of their world. You listen to their stories, help them learn, and remind them that they are not alone. Your support, no matter how small it seems, can create lasting change.

What Is Go Palestine?

Go Palestine is a cultural and educational center located in Hebron, a city in the southern West Bank. The center offers international volunteers the chance to join community-based programs that empower youth, support education, and promote cultural exchange.

Since 2011, Go Palestine has welcomed volunteers from over 40 countries. Their programs are safe, well-organized, and built on long-standing partnerships with local schools, community centers, and families.

The Palestinian Children Support Program

The Children Support Volunteer Program allows international volunteers to work directly with Palestinian children in after-school programs, community centers, and summer camps.

Here are some of the ways you can contribute:

1. Educational Support

Many Palestinian children struggle in overcrowded classrooms with limited resources. As a volunteer, you can:

  • Help with English lessons
  • Support basic math and reading
  • Offer one-on-one attention
  • Encourage classroom participation

You don’t need to be a professional teacher. What matters most is your willingness to help and your ability to connect with young learners.

2. Creative and Recreational Activities

Children need space to play, imagine, and express themselves. Volunteers can organize fun and engaging activities such as:

  • Drawing and painting
  • Music and dancing
  • Storytelling and drama
  • Sports and games

These activities help children build self-confidence and reduce stress.

3. Emotional and Social Support

Children in Palestine often grow up under stress. Your presence as a volunteer can provide emotional comfort and friendship. You’ll show them that the world cares and that their voices matter.

By simply listening, playing, and laughing with them, you help promote healing and resilience.

Where Will You Work?

Most volunteering with Palestinian children takes place in Hebron, home to several schools, refugee camps, and community centers that work closely with Go Palestine. Some volunteers may also visit nearby villages or camps for special workshops or day trips.

All placements are carefully selected to ensure a safe and enriching experience for both volunteers and children.

Program Highlights

Here’s what makes this volunteer program special:

  • Work directly with children aged 6 to 14

  • Participate in Arabic classes and cultural workshops
  • Join local events and family gatherings

This program is more than just volunteering—it’s full cultural immersion.

What You’ll Gain from the Experience

Volunteering with Palestinian children will teach you empathy, patience, and a deeper understanding of global challenges. It’s a chance to:

  • Improve your communication and teaching skills
  • Learn about Palestinian life, traditions, and values
  • Develop cross-cultural understanding

Many past volunteers describe the experience as “life-changing.”

  • 2 to 3 months (ideal for deeper involvement)

Why Hebron?

Hebron is one of the oldest cities in the world, rich in history and culture. It’s also a place where children grow up facing military checkpoints, school closures, and instability. Your support here is both needed and appreciated.

Despite the challenges, Hebron is a city full of life, hospitality, and strong community bonds. Volunteers often say that the people of Hebron made them feel like part of the family.

Safety and Support

Go Palestine takes your safety seriously. The team provides:

  • Pre-arrival information and visa support
  • Airport pick-up (optional)
  • 24/7 local support
